ULTRASONIC WELDERS

Sims engineering systems ltd have a strong reputation for building special purpose ultrasonic welding machines. All the machines we build use "Branson" ultrasonic generators and horns. We have been working closely with Branson ultrasonics for over 15 years and have found them to be a good partner as they are a true global supplier of ultrasonic equipment. The advantages of a SIMS machine is that we can incorporate more than one technology into one machine, for example in the pictures below some of the machines have sonics and punching happening in the one machine , thus saving the need for extra machines and all the problems that entails(floor space /operators needed for each machine). We can also supply machines with robot load and unload facilities. We can also incorporate sonic welding machines into multi station assembly lines. As with all our machines , each one is designed specifically for the job at hand , as opposed to building different machines around a standard design(which usually means compromising the customers needs). We can also build welders with a lower number of generators and use a switching system to distribute the power to multiple weld heads, which can reduce cost.

This is a 3 station multi head welder for a car bumper.this machine has approx 30 weld heads shared by 2 ultrasonic generators. the operator would load the bumper in the 1st station then scan a barcode, which would be used to instruct the operator on the build then the bumper would be welding in the 2nd and 3rd station before being returned to the 1st station. note that this machine is equipped with a Sara door and not a light curtain at the customers request. also the weld platen is shown in the down position.

This is a dashboard ultrasonic welder in a sound deadening enclosure. this machine has a tilting table to allow the welding on 2 surfaces of the dashboard. the welding heads on this machine are made from carbide coated titanium as the product is a glass filled polypropylene. This was done to increase the wear life of the welding heads

This is a robot welding and inspection cell. it has interchangeable tooling for up to 16 products. The robot head has an inspection plunger on one side and an ultrasonic weld head on the other. it would first inspect the part for correct assembly then weld the parts together.

This machine is for welding a large bumper for a 4wd vehicle. the bumper is loaded onto a nest that is tilted towards the operator to make loading/unloading easier. when the cycle is started the bumper is returned to the upright position then raised into the nest at the top of the machine where it is welded

This is a multi head welder that incorporates barcode reading of the product and assembly inspection. this is useful where welding of the part could result in a scrap bumper if previous operations have not been completed. It also has 6” touch screen for graphical user interface.

This is a parking sensor punch and weld machine. the bumper has the hole punched at the back of the machine and the housings welded at the front. this particular machine incorporates a barcode reader so that the operation can be confirmed before the bumper is processed.
