PUNCH MACHINES

Sims engineering systems ltd are leaders in the punching of fine tolerance holes in plastics(painted and unpainted). We have done extensive trials in punching of different types of plastics which have enabled us to develop a data base of tensile strengths for plastics. Also because of the number of applications we have developed we can also advise on the best design of your parts if they are to be punched. As with all the other types of machines we build we can incorporate more than one technology on one machine. If you click on the pictures below you can see an enlarged picture

This is probably the most complex punch machine we have built. This machine was built to process wiper panels for a truck. it is able to process 4 different versions of the panel and contains 29 cylinders. Some of the punches actually become dies for the next punch in the sequence and some of the dies are made up of multiple steel sections so as to be able to accommodate the different shapes that need to be punched for the different part options.

This machine is used to punch out 2 apertures in a bumper. The picture below shows the complex pattern that was punched. By knowing what clearances to use for different plastics we are able to punch difficult shapes like this with minimal white lining

This machine is used to punch out fog lamp holes, parking sensor holes, camera holes, and wash jet holes on a painted bumper. the sequence of the machine is dictated by a 2d matrix reader mounted in the machine.

As we know the correct forces for punching plastics, hydraulics are not always required. In this machine we have used pneumatics to punch these holes

This face mask is made on a sims production cell(see other sectors) . the shape is punched out from roll fed material
