PARKING SENSOR PUNCH AND WELD MACHINE

At SIMS ENGINEERING SYSTEMS LTD we have extensive knowledge of fitting parking sensors to bumper housings. We can build a machine to punch the holes in painted and unpainted bumpers then weld the housings into place. We have done this on bumpers where the hole cut edge is visible after the housing is fitted(requires the best hole finish and most accurate welding. Most machine have a cold punch and die but we can offer machines with hot punch and ultrasonic assisted punching where the product demands it. If you click on the pictures below you can see a larger image. The operation of this machine is as follows: when the cycle is started the bumper is taken to the rear of the machine , the operator then loads the pdc housings onto the weld heads then presses start again, the bumper is now punched then brought to the front of the machine where the houses are welded into position. all welding can be monitored and the machine diagnostics can make pass or fail decisions. Weld data can be retained for between 10-100 previous cycles and the machine has a 512 message history buffer. this particular machine also has a barcode reader so parts can be checked that they need pdc housings before cycling. This type of machine can be specified in many different formats , we can also separate out thepunching and welding to separate machines if required. Please contact us for more information

Left and right are the finished results. This process can be used on bumpers down to about 3.2mm wall thickness without any show through on the painted surface
