SIMS ENGINEERING SYSTEMS LTD

POKE OKE ASSEMBLY

We are leaders in the design and manufacture of assembly / inspection fixtures. These machines once loaded with the main part, will lock it into the fixture and will not release it until it is correctly assembled. This gives you better control of your production process and helps reduce the number of parts sent back to you by your customer because of missing parts. As each customer will have different requirements each fixture is designed specifically for each individual job. We can also offer assembly/inspection fixtures with built in barcode readers and vision inspection capabilities. We can also supply pick to light systems to control the flow of parts to the assembly . this usually involves the reading of barcode information from the product then illuminating bins or unlocking drawers so as to control the operator work flow. please look at the pictures below, each has a brief description of the type of assembly and inspection being used. you can click on the pictures to see a larger image. Note that these are just a few examples of the type of fixtures we can build and that all are usually made to various customer specifications. Also note that we also can incorporate the inspection af assembly into most of the other types of machines that we build, for example adding inspection for previous processes to an ultrasonic welder

A bumper assembly table with automatic barcode reading and trays with lights that illuminate so the operator knows what parts to pick for the assembly

This is a simple holding fixture for a bumper, it an be rotated to allow assembly from all surfaces and will only release the part when it is in the upright position

The above 2 pictures show a bumper assembly station that has hand held barcode reader and text display to instruct the operator on the build of the product. The part would be locked in the fixture when loaded , The operator would then read a barcode and the display would indicate the build required. arms can be moved into position for inspecting and when the process is completed o.k. the part is marked in a non visible area to allow for traceability. then released for the next operation

This is a simple assembly inspection fixture where the part would be locked in then assembled, then the operator would bring down the inspection arm and led's on the mimic panel would light up for all the correct parts. if all parts are correct then the part is marked for traceability and released from the fixture

This is similar in operation to the above fixture but can also be rotated for bumper assembly from either the "a" or "b" surface. This type of fixture can be supplied with interchangeable fixtures where required

This is a pick to light drawer system. We developed this for a customer who was worried about operators fitting the wrong color parking sensors to car bumpers(16 different colors). This system would be connected to a host machine(this is where the bumper would be). at the start of the process all drawers are locked closed, when the color information is sent across the correct drawer is unlocked and a lamp turned on next to it so the operator knows which drawer to us. Refilling is done from the rear where trays of parts would be scanned with a barcode reader then a lamp next to a drawer where their parts belong would light up.
